The Punjabi Folk Company is an arts development agency in England working to promote Bhangra culture and develop new artwork in Bhangra music and dance.
Based in London and the South East region, the Punjabi Folk Company works extensively in England with educational and performance-oriented projects. The company is also doing cross-cultural artwork, by integrating Bhangra dances with Ceilidh, Morris and African dances and music.
Since its inception, the company has delivered more than 100 workshops across the UK. Every year, the Punjabi Folk Company delivers Powerful performances called Bhangra Nights at different arts venues and arts festivals. Venues include Nehru Centre, London; Luton festival; Bracknell Festival; Norden Farm centre for Arts, Maidenhead; Southhill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell; and the Hat Factory Luton.
Bhangra Nights: Punjabi Folk Company is currently looking for venues in London and South East England for their latest Bhangra Nights dance event and music concert. The show will tour from March 2006-December 2008. For more information about this event please contact the Punjabi Folk Company.
Documentary Film: The Punjabi Folk Company is currently developing a new documentary feature film exploring bhangra dance Culture in the UK and is looking for project partners. This film would be shot in India and England. If you are interested in this project and need more information please contact us.
Culture-Cross (2006 onwards): This new project for schools explores cross-cultural artwork in UK. As a part of the project, artists from different cultures and countries are working together to define and explores the possibilities new cross-cultural art work.
The project will be a supported by a multiscreen video/sound installation(Developed by Video artist Jaswinder Singh), with workshops in Schools to support young people to create new cross-cultural artwork in music dance and visual arts.
The project will tour nationally between 2006-2008. We currently have confirmed venues/schools booked in Slough, Maidenhead, Bracknell and Essex.
